This book takes many of the short licks or 'Clusters'
discussed in 'Transcriptions: ANALYSED, arranges
them in order of quality ( major, minor, dominant )
and discusses the 'signature' characteristics of each.
Simple 'Clusters' are followed by ones that carry new
ideas / alterations. This element of continuity enables
us to easily compare the changes to each new cluster.
Clusters have been chosen for:
classic (cliche) note combinations
quality changes within the chord
extensions and substitutions to set chords
intervals and enclosures
or other qualities that makes them stand out as
usable / interesting licks
